Spin Bonnet & Rotary Carpet Cleaning

Has a commercial carpet cleaning company recommended either Spin Bonnet or Rotary commercial carpet cleaning to you?

At Sands Flooring Maintenance Services, we use Hot Water Extraction commercial carpet cleaning to guarantee you a truly clean carpet, while protecting your carpet’s fibres. We strongly discourage the use of either Spin Bonnet or Rotary commercial carpet cleaning. A rotary brush should only be used in the case of a deep restorative cleaning when combined with Hot Water Extraction and should not be part of an ongoing maintenance program.

Spin Bonnet is an adaptation of the hard floor spray buffing commonly used in cleaning hard surface floors. The rotating brushes are covered with large soft pads. The pads are soaked in a cleaning solution (which can also be sprayed on your carpet) and squeezed lightly before being placed under the driving brushes which then clean your carpet.

Rotary commercial carpet cleaning uses an ordinary rotary floor machine, similar to ones used for stripping wax. Shampoo is sprayed unto your carpet from a dispensing tank. The rotary brushes whip the detergent into a foam which is left to dry and later vacuumed.

Why do we discourage using Spin Bonnet or Rotary commercial carpet cleaning methods?

  • Neither Spin Bonnet nor Rotary commercial carpet cleaning offer an effective dirt extraction process like Hot Water Extraction. Consequently much of the detergent and dirt remains deep in the pile of the carpet. Soap residue left in the carpet can result in immediate re-soiling.
  • Both methods use a rotating action, which can damage or distort your cut pile carpet by either ‘fuzzing’ the pile or leaving distinct swirl marks.
If these cleaning methods are performed on your carpet, they will void the manufacturer’s warranty.
